Work is underway on a twin-tower development in Singapore that will claim to be the tallest modular buildings in the world when complete in 2023.

The 56-storey Avenue South Residences, designed by Singapore’s ADDP Architects and developed by UOL Group and Kheng Leong Company, will have 1,074 apartments.

The current record-holder is the twin residential towers at 101 George Street in the London Borough of Croydon, UK, developed by Greystar and Henderson Park. The taller of these two is 44 storeys, the shorter 36 storeys.

ADDP told GCR that modules will arrive on site 80% complete, with finished floors, walls, painted surfaces, windows, doors plumbing and electrics complete.

The modules’ manufacturer is United Tec Construction Pte. ADDP said piling on site was 93% complete, and work on the substructure was at 38%.

“Designing modular building requires more discipline and control,” ADDP said in a statement. “We need to have a good understanding of the constraints without limiting the creativity that has been our approach in designing modular housing.”

The company stress the importance of digital technology, including BIM, in designing for modular construction.

“We have been adopting digital technology using BIM and VDC [virtual design and construction] in our projects. We believe that moving forward, the design process will require more integration of technology, manufacturing and collaborative approach for the industry to be more progressive.”

Eastland provides various kinds of building materials, especially Eastland AAC Panel(ALC Panel) and Eastland AAC Block(ALC Block). AAC Panel is short for Autoclaved Aerated Concrete Panel.
